Marine Surveyor

We are looking for qualified Surveyors to join our team of collaborators at FMC International!
Ideal candidates are experienced maritime professionals holding either a Chief Engineer license or a Master Mariner Unlimited license on ocean‑going vessels.
In this role, you will be the face of our services on the ground, delivering hands‑on technical expertise onboard vessels. You will conduct a wide range of inspections and surveys, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations while providing clear, actionable insights to clients and stakeholders.
This role is ideal for a confident, detail‑oriented professional who thrives in dynamic environments and can communicate effectively with ship crews, port authorities, and diverse industry partners. With a strong emphasis on technical accuracy, problem‑solving, and customer service, you will help uphold FMC International’s reputation for quality, reliability, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct onboard surveys and inspections to verify compliance with regulatory, safety, and technical standards.
Prepare clear, comprehensive inspection reports and ensure follow‑up on corrective actions.
Act as the primary contact for vessel crews, owners, authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Assess vessel structures, machinery, and safety systems, providing expert recommendations.
Ensure adherence to international and local regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, USCG, AMSA).
Represent FMC International professionally and deliver high‑quality service at all times.
Collaborate with technical teams and advise clients on repairs, maintenance, and best practices.
Stay informed on evolving regulations, industry standards, and maritime technologies.
Support incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and authorities to support FMC International’s reputation.
Qualifications and Experience
Must hold a Chief Engineer's License or Master Mariner license, unlimited, issued by a recognized maritime authority.
A minimum of 15 years of maritime experience, with minimum 2 years as Chief Engineer or Master Mariner.
In-depth understanding of international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, and ISPS codes. Familiarity with classification societies, flag state requirements.
Prior experience conducting technical inspections, surveys, or audits of vessels is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with onboard crew, regulatory bodies, and clients.
Proven problem-solving skills, with a focus on precision and attention to detail in technical assessments and reporting.
Ability to perform physical onboard inspections, which may involve climbing, confined space entry, and work in varying environmental conditions.
STCW endorsements, advanced maritime safety training, and other relevant maritime certifications are a plus.
